Welcome! We’ve finally launched our new site on Risk Management. We are different sort of website as we are not selling consulting or software but instead simply sharing information about people, tools and occurrences. We will gladly consider posting any relevant submissions and look forward to your help in making us more useful to the risk management community. Now, we know that risk management is one of those phrases that can be focused on several different areas. We will talk about risk management in terms of Credit Underwriting, Credit analysis and Fraud management. Insurance discussions we will leave to Geckos and the over abundance of experts who already populate that space.

We are excited to showcase our first expert in Credit Analysis and Underwriting, Mr. George Artus. When we caught up with George, we asked him about his current background and some of his major achievements. This is what we learned:
Mr. George Artus is a seasoned credit analyst with extensive experience in financial and market analysis. He began his career in the financial services industry in 1991 and has successfully developed an expertise in financial and credit analysis from a series of positions of increasing responsibility. Those positions brought him to Chrysler Financial and Hitachi Capital America.
During his employment with Chrysler Financial, Mr. Artus developed an expertise in the analysis of the financial statements and the automobile dealership which resulted in his being designated as one of two individuals in the North Eastern region of the U.S. authorized to conduct on-site financial audits of automobile dealerships.
Mr. Artus’ achievements at Chrysler Financial were further recognized by senior management with two consecutive “High-Performer” awards for achieving annual goals as well as being a recipient of an “Exceed to Succeed” award for the creation and management of a lease disposal team which resulted in the successful liquidation of approximately 10,000 leased vehicles with a combined residual value of over $250 million within a 90 day period.
Upon joining Hitachi Capital America in 2007, Mr. Artus diversified his industry experience to include commercial trucking, construction, material handling, recycling and others. Mr. Artus’ expertise in credit and financial analysis was a key factor in his ability to resolve a significant backlog of 218 annual credit line reviews that dated back to 2005 while maintaining a current status of new requests in the credit pipeline which consisted of 317 credit line requests. During the 2009 fiscal year,he completed credit line reviews for a combined $590 million in credit line requests and/or renewals. Mr. Artus currently oversees a team of four administrators that handle the day-to-day financing of credit line requests.
Mr. George Artus holds an MBA and a BS degree in Finance from St John’s University.
